This unit is designed to build the competence and confidence of students in the discipline of mathematics. Students will explore a number of realistic situations across different cultures (occupational, ethnic, etc) in which the need for mathematical problem solving arises and within which mathematical ideas are generated. Students will also be expected to draw on and utilise personal experience, skills and knowledge to enable them to respond to mathematical situations. Content areas will include the six universal mathematical activities (of counting, locating, measuring, designing, explaining and playing), values and beliefs related to mathematics, and chance and data. -- Course Website
