This unit explores the nature of design by introducing the characteristics of space, objects or images as appropriate, as part of a designer's repertoire of knowledge and understanding. Basic design studies provide the framework for the development of a language of design. The understanding of the role of the designer for the enhancement of the human experience is developed by observation, critical enquiry, interpretation, communication and the creation of visual forms. Design is presented as a creative, analytical and synthesising process with social, cultural and artistic implications. -- Course Website
