Advanced methods for the design of structures, considering both loading and strength aspects of design. Strength and serviceability design of continuous post-tensioned concrete members; analysis of shear and torsion in prestressed concrete members, design and detailing of anchorage zones. Introduction to the plastic design concept for engineering practice, with particular reference to steel structures design; methods of plastic analysis from simple beams to complex frames. Introduction to yield line theory for reinforced concrete slabs; yield line solutions based on work equations. Lower bound solutions for reinforced concrete slabs using Hillerborg strip method. -- Course Website
