This unit introduces the design of steel and timber framed structures in accordance with the design codes. It enables the students to understand the process for the design of steel and timber structures and the background knowledge which leads to the development of the current steel and timber design codes. Students will understand the behaviour of steel and timber structural components under realistic design conditions and relate the knowledge of design to practical design problems in a project-based learning environment. -- Course Website
