This unit develops further the basic principles and key aspects of synthesis, structure and reactivity of carbon based molecules and metal complexes discussed in CHM2911. It will cover aspects of aromatic and heterocyclic chemistry including electrophilic aromatic substitution; physical organic chemistry; reactive intermediates; molecular rearrangements; nucleophilic addition; properties and bonding in transition metal complexes; metal ions in biology including metalloproteins and metal based drugs including Cisplatin. -- Course Website
