This subject examines the various contexts and methods by which social and political change has been brought about through various forms of activism. Themes explored include the efficacy of violence and non-violence, the internet and technology, religion, consumer choices, and the United Nations. Issues addressed include gender and sexuality rights, refugees, health and AIDS, and civil liberties. All are examined in specific contexts from around the world including South Africa, Malaysia, Australia, Nicaragua, Britain, and India. This subject will provide an overview of the various factors that influence and enable the bringing about of social change. -- Course Website
