Studies in the culture of the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries in Ukraine. Literary texts (polemical literature; lyrical, laudatory and emblematic verse; school drama, including comic interlude; historical writing; the philosophical and poetic works of Skovoroda) are examined in the original, in relation to contemporary Ukrainian art, architecture, music and folklore, and with reference to social and political developments. -- Course Website
