This unit is designed to introduce students to the nature and requirements of university study and encourages them to demystify the practices and requirements they will confront in their first year. It provides students with a range of specific and identifiable capacities that are essential for undergraduate study. The thematic content is unified around a consideration of the relationships between the learner, the university's requirements and the expectations of students. Students are introduced to the traditions of university scholarship and the changing culture of scholarship.
