This unit, for students of German at an advanced level of proficiency, aims at practicing German language skills while introducing students to socio-linguistic aspects of the German language. Topics for discussion include: linguistic variation in German (such as regional variation, variation between written and spoken German, language and gender), as well as language change (such Rechtschreibreform, Engleutsch, German in East and West).
