This unit is designed to develop students' knowledge and understanding of those issues impacting on the delivery of Indigenous education in Australia. Invasion and colonisation, the effects of government policies, the stolen generations, and the developing relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians are explored in the context of learning and teaching in the classroom. Approaches for teaching Indigenous students are explored, along with the requirement to include Indigenous perspectives across the curriculum. Aboriginal people involved in education introduce many of these issues. -- Course Website
