Students will read set texts in modern and contemporary Chinese and render them into English as scholarly translations. This unit aims to develop reading, reading comprehension and translation skills at a scholarly level. Students will develop their vocabulary and language proficiency in their non-native language, through reading and translating texts across a broad range of topic areas. Students will also develop their understanding of the appropriateness of terminology and expression in scholarly translations across a range of technical, cultural, historical and linguistic contexts.
