This course examines the interplay between formal education and the use of digital platforms to support a broad range of social and cultural activity, including game playing. The course examines three aspects of this interplay: the patterns of interaction between schools and computing and related technologies over time; the changed and changing digital circumstances outside formal education settings (in particular the patterns of behaviour of the young in the use of contemporary digital platforms); and the emergence of digital games as a significant element of contemporary digital culture and of current practices and thinking about games in education. -- Course Website
