This course is designed to provide an understanding of the role that auditing plays in the broader corporate governance framework. The course focuses on current research in auditing and covers the following: corporate governance; the regulatory environment; internal audit, audit committees and external audit as governance mechanisms; audit quality and audit independence; determinants of audit fees, auditor rotation and assurance services.
