This course provides students with an understanding of typography, layout, colour, and icons/symbols in terms of history, contemporary use and cultural impacts. The course concentrates on the effective visual communication of the content of the message. It does this by studying imagery and how to make these elements work successfully in a variety of applications. It explains visual hierarchy, how to apply it, grid structures and how to integrate type and image into layouts that are well-designed and effective.
