This course includes the main algal groups, the symbiotic relationships of plants (with both bacteria and fungi), the lower plants (mosses, liverworts and hornworts), the seedless vascular plants (ferns) and the main seed plants (gymnosperms and angiosperms). This course takes a systematic approach to these groups emphasising the evolutionary developments evident in each major clade. The material in the course reflects the current changes in plant taxonomy. The emphasis is on how the structure of the plant influences how it functions in its environment. The processes of seed dispersal, seed germination, plant reproductive strategies and the use of secondary chemicals in plants as a... -- Course Website
