This course provides essential information required for the understanding of processes and chemical behaviour. It builds upon the understanding of chemical principles introduced in first year, and prepares students for third year courses. The thermodynamics and kinetics of chemical systems will be treated, which are commonly applied in all branches of chemistry. Its purpose is to present descriptions of the kinetics, mechanism and fundamental basis of chemical reactions, the laws of thermodynamics, phase and chemical equilibria, rheology and flow, properties of solutions and phase equilibria. There is an associated laboratory component.

Pre-requisites: 1101BPS Chemistry IA AND... -- Course Website
