This course aims to provide an understanding of the major biosynthetic (anabolic) and biodegradative (catabolic) pathways in cells and tissues, along with the principal mechanisms used for the integration and regulation of these pathways. This course covers structural and functional aspects of the biochemical generation of energy (inc. enzymology and bioenergetics) as well as the key aspects of carbohydrate metabolism, the oxidation and synthesis of lipids and protein/amino acid metabolism.
