This course explores the diversity of life, ranging from prokaryotes through to plants and animals. It addresses the characteristics, classification and identification of plants and animals. It explores the range of ecosystems in the local region and worldwide as well as the uniqueness of the Australian biota. It involves laboratory study of the major groups of plants and animals and gives students familiarity with the principles of classification and taxonomy.
