This course locates animation practice within narrative models common to all cinema and explores the narrative possibilities exclusive to the animated image. Film grammar will be examined in an effort towards building audio-visual literacy as a foundation for all subsequent scripting. This course introduces a conceptual frame and contextual history of the use of narrative constructions in animated film, and introduces basic narrative foundations to enable students to critically reflect on their own scripts. -- Course Website
