This unit integrates knowledge developed in SRT151 and SRT251 (Construction and Structures 1 and 2) and provides opportunity to further understanding of structural principles and construction methodologies of high-rise buildings and tall structures through a systematic examination of their design and construction. Structural topics include: introduction to permanent and temporary forces acting on structural elements and systems; principles governing selection of structural systems; structural behaviour and adequacy of building components including formwork and scaffolding.
