The major focus of this unit is the relationship between sustainable design and tectonics through a series of interrelated design projects. Major areas of exploration include: the use of diagram to communicate ideas, site analysis, ecologically sustainable building and designing collaboratively as part of a team. Design is explored across a broad range of scales, and includes representational and simulated modelling. Consideration is given to cultural, social, material and environmental requirements and the importance of historical precedent.
