The basic principles of genetics will be examined in this unit and will cover topics that span from the genetic basis of heredity through to the evolution and genetic diversity of animal and plant populations. This unit will cover Mendelian genetics, chromosomal structure, mutation and DNA repair, sex determination, the Hardy-Weinberg principle, recombination, linkage and disequilibrium, natural selection, genetic drift, inbreeding and non-random mating, population subdivision and gene flow and molecular population genetics. -- Course Website
