This unit introduces the fundamental concepts for design procedures for composite structures and their behaviour during service life and according to the valid design codes. This will include specifying loads on the structure, use of composite materials, and introduction to various design philosophies, design of the shear connectors and main composite structural elements as well as composite construction. This unit will apply advanced design procedures to composite structures of steel and concrete, including composite floor-beam systems. -- Course Website
