This unit provides foundation knowledge about the operational level of business activities and emphasises the importance of their links to organisational strategies. It considers the role of information and communication technologies in supporting business processes and it introduces enterprise systems and the ways in which these can automate procurement, fulfilment and production and the integration of these processes in organisations. The unit introduces business process architecture, problem scoping, modelling, methodologies and measurement.
