The unit is designed to develop an understanding of the legal principles underlying business activity and its social control through law; to create an awareness of the legal implications of business transactions; to develop a capacity to identify legal problems encountered; and to obtain and evaluate professional advice. The emphasis is on the measures available to ensure contractual obligations are met and to minimise the risk of losses caused by avoidance of legal liability. Topics include: the Australian legal system; the laws of contract; agency; partnership; business torts; corporation law and industrial law.Assessment -- Course Website
