The aim of this unit is to develop the student’s knowledge and understanding of the role and function of the professional nurse practitioner to undertake collaborative practice across complex interdisciplinary alliances. This role development is according to the national competency standards and other professional practice guidelines including prescribing of medications. Contemporary leadership theory, consultancy, advanced teamwork and ethical, legal and socio-political issues relevant to the nurse practitioner’s role will be examined. Students will commence a professional portfolio that demonstrates critical analysis, synthesis and evaluation to monitor this changing role. -- Course Website
