This unit is one of the Clinical Studies in Nursing 3 cluster theme. Caring for children and adolescents present particular challenges for nurses requiring appraisal of the growth and development stages, legal and ethical responsibilities of the nurse and how these impact on the requirements specific to these age groups. In this context opportunities will be provided for students to develop a systematic body of knowledge on the role and responsibilities of the nurse in the management of symptoms, risk identification, and the development of appropriate interventions to promote optimal functional status and development of the child or adolescent.
