This unit is one of three within the Clinical Studies in Nursing 2 cluster and aims to guide students in their development of knowledge that informs problem-solving and skill development when working with patients who present with issues affecting their mental health. A major focus will be on management of symptoms, the impact of symptoms on patient function, and risk management of the person diagnosed with mental health problems. In particular, students will develop skills in assessment of patients with mental health problems such as basic interviewing, de-escalation, and risk assessment.
