This unit explores important concepts and theories that deepen understanding of school-aged young people in ways which are important for the teaching encounter and for creating effective learning environments. The unit aims to give insight into commonality and diversity in human development and approaches to learning. It will examine the way in which the learning and development journey of all children and adolescents is mediated through socio-cultural constructs, and the implications of this insight for teaching in schools.
