Analysis of selected theories of child development relevant to the birth to twelve years of age focusing on the holistic nature of development from conception to birth and the critical nature of early and later development. Domains of development - physical, psychosocial, and cognitive will be examined and how development may be fostered in home and care contexts. Students will critique Piaget’s theory of sensory motor development analysing what is currently applicable to the birth – three age group.
