There is immense variation in the way different cultures deal with crime. This unit provides a critical introduction to the philosophies, structures and procedures of criminal justice institutions in a number of international jurisdictions. The unit explores the underlying philosophical similarities and differences between institutions and practices in a range of countries, while offering insights into how these features affect our understanding of crime in a global society.
