This fully on-line unit will explore the way that electronic modes of communication and the emergence of virtual communities are transforming the way we live. This unit examines issues such as the presentation of the self in virtual networks, social relations online, new forms of criminal behaviour and the regulatory responses to these developments. Importantly, the techniques of social science research and theory will be used to evaluate and understand these developments.
