The unit provides an introduction to sociology and introduces students to sociological concepts and theories in order to develop a sociological outlook. A main purpose of the study of sociology is to trace the relationship of the individual to the social world. This unit will take specific and familiar areas of interest for the beginning student, and through them develop ways of thinking sociologically. The unit will introduce students to some of the central questions asked by sociologists regarding the nature of society as a means of introducing students to the sociological perspective.<br/>Topics included are the consumer society, the sociology of the body and identity formation.Assessment -- Course Website
