This unit explores key issues and debates surrounding international development. The focus is on the relationship between rich and poor countries of the modern world, on global inequality and ways of understanding and addressing it. Imbalances in wealth, health, information and power are central themes. The pivotal role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in development is explored, as are changing perspectives on aid and development effectiveness.
