This unit examines the contemporary nature and controversies of global capitalism from the perspective of the field of Global Political Economy (GPE). Topics studied in the unit include theories of GPE, the history and structure of the modern world economy, transnational corporations, global trade and foreign investment. Emphasis is placed on the debates over globalisation and the social and environmental consequences of economic globalisation as well as an examination of resistance and opposition to economic globalisation. -- Course Website
