AIM701 is a core unit in the Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies program. The use of the past in the present has become a key debate within contemporary society. Contestations over representations of the past, critiques of the power of heritage to legitimate particular word views, debates about multiculturalism and social inclusion, and the role of heritage in tourism, place promotion and urban redevelopment all bring concerns over identity to the fore.
