The Arab-Israeli Conflict remains one of the most complex issues in politics and international relations today. This unit will examine the history of this conflict, from the beginning of Jewish nationalism to the present time. Key issues studied include: Jewish migration to Palestine; the impact of the Holocaust; the Declaration of the State of Israel and the 1948 Arab-Israeli War; the birth of the Palestinian refugee crisis; the 1967 War and the rise of the PLO; the Jewish settler movement; terrorism; the peace process; the Intifadas; and options for the future. -- Course Website
