The unit will provide an overview of the current situation of refugees and displaced persons throughout the world. It will examine and illustrate the effect of displacement on the health of migrants and refugees with a special emphasis on Australia. There will be an analysis of major issues associated with the provision of support to those in detention and Australian immigration policy. Students will critique service provision for migrant and refugee health in Australia. Students will learn to apply a culturally relevant human rights framework to Australian refugee issues. -- Course Website
