This unit enables design students to learn the fundamental science, theory, application and practice of wood and plastic technologies as they are applied in the disciplines of product, object and furniture design. Well established and developing technologies are studied through the examination of iconic designs, the work of leading designers and common practice. Selected materials are applied to a 'sustainability focused' design project activity. The communication of design ideas is developed through computer based studio sessions and tuition to establish a student's knowledge and practice of CAD and solid modelling software. -- Course Website
