Review of fundamental principles in fluid mechanics. Ideal fluid flow: stream function and velocity potential. Laplace equation: superposition, flow modelling, circulation, and lift. Viscous effects: laminar and turbulent boundary layers, transition, skin-friction drag, slender-body theory, drag coefficient, and similarity. Free-surface flows: open-channel flow, Froude number, subcritical and supercritical flows, hydraulic jump, and wave drag. Compressible flow. Mach number, adiabatic and isentropic flow, shock waves, lift, and drag. -- Course Website
