This unit presents students with the opportunity to hone their journalistic skills while undertaking a placement at a Western Australian media organisation. Students will validate their theoretical and professional knowledge in news room situations, filing copy, attending media and press conferences while working in a collaborative environment. Students will apply that knowledge within the legal and ethical parameters which apply to the profession and which. This unit will measure how well students understand the nexus between professional practice and academic theories by asking students to maintain a journal and finally through a reflective essay. -- Course Website
