This unit explores how Perth modified the art, architecture, town planning, fashion and design of other cultures to define its position in the world during the period 1870–1930. It defines the international characteristics of local Perth culture during the extended Fin de Siecle period so as to understand the fluid alternatives between European and American cultural forms that confronted Perth as it endeavoured to take its place on the world stage.
