This unit introduces students to problems with motor control and learning that can result from disturbances in neurological function, muscle performance, joint mobility, balance and posture. The related causes, diagnosis, impact on movement and remediation of a variety of disorders and diseases are covered in the lectures, including developmental coordination disorder, cerebral palsy, autism, muscular dystrophy, tics and Tourette's syndrome, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and essential tremor.
