This unit focuses on the relationships between strategy, diplomacy and conflicts in international politics. It explores answers to the following questions: What is strategy? Why do states and non-state actors engage in short- or long-term conflicts? What role does diplomacy play in the process? Does the beginning of a conflict mean the end of diplomacy? How do conflicts come to an end? What role do peace movements and other international actors play in the peaceful resolution of disputes?
