This unit continues a basic introduction to the principles and practice of podiatric medicine through a series of lectures and laboratory participation. The aetiology and pathomechanics of common foot abnormalities are further described at an introductory level. The principles of clinical podiatric biomechanics are continued and the student is taught to correlate gait and the static examination and biomechanical examination findings with simple treatment modalities. The unit also introduces neutral impression plaster casting techniques, positive cast correction and the design and construction of foot orthoses. -- Course Website
