This unit emphasises the use and performance of plants appropriate to the Australian environment. Particular reference is made to regions of Western Australia, its distinctive endemic flora, cultural planting and environmental determinants. Appropriate planting plays a primary role in the professions of landscape architecture and landscape management and is discussed in this unit by reviewing its practice and implementation at a diverse range of landscape scales including bush regeneration, arid-zone planting, parks and gardens, and urban streetscapes. This unit comprises a series of lectures, assignments, quizzes and excursions to look at plants in the landscape. -- Course Website
