This unit builds on a solid foundation of mathematics and physics established at the undergraduate levels in Physics, or Astronomy and Astrophysics, and develops the major elements of modern physics at an advanced level. <br/><br/>The unit comprises lecture modules, with 18 lectures being compulsory and the remaining 18 lectures being drawn from a selection of elective modules. Lecture modules include—Quantum Field Theory 2 (18 lectures); Condensed Matter Physics and Quasiparticles (18 lectures); Group Theory (18 lectures); Nuclear Physics (18 lectures); Medical Physics (6 lectures); Solitions (6 lectures); Josephson Junctions (6 lectures); and Relativistic Electrodynamics (6 lectures). -- Course Website
