This unit covers basic concepts in hearing aid design, selection and evaluation of hearing aids, hearing aid application in adult rehabilitative audiology. Topics include hearing aid prescriptive linear and nonlinear selection procedures, and hearing aid evaluation using couplers, real-ear and aided threshold measurement. Design of adult rehabilitative programs, including assessment of communication needs/abilities, use of outcomes assessment measures, counselling, analytical and synthetic auditory training and communication strategies for the hearing impaired are also covered. -- Course Website
