Hume (1711–1776) is a seminal figure in the history of modern philosophy and he remains an important influence in metaphysics, ethics, religion and aesthetics. This unit critically examines Hume's entire A Treatise of Human Nature. Issues discussed include empiricism, causation, probability, scepticism, personal identity, passion and virtues, and morals.
