The unit builds on PATH5516 Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Genetics and provides students with a knowledge and understanding of clinical molecular genetics including (1) cancer genetics; (2) neuromuscular genetics; and (3) haemoglobinopathies and thalassaemia.<br/><br/>The unit is designed to provide the theoretical knowledge related to the clinical molecular genetics of cancer genetics (inherited breast, ovarian and colorectal cancers), neuromuscular genetics (the muscular dystrophies and myotonic dystrophy) and diseases caused by mutations in the genes responsible for haemoglobinopathies and thalassaemia. -- Course Website
